Our PAWstory

Our founding CEO/Executive Handler cares for Clinton County's first Canine Advocate (court dog).
In this work, many great dog lovers ask about how their dogs can support the community.
Together, our team launched a nonprofit organization to serve our community.
2026
Tales with Tails began serving Shiawassee County. We moved our headquarters to our forever home at 108 Brush Street in St. Johns. Pet Partners Fostering Program expanded to partner with EVE, Inc. which serves Clinton, Eaton and Ingham Counties.

2025
We launched our Pet Partners Fostering Program, a unique pet fostering program to serve victims/survivors of SafeCenter who serves Clinton and Shiawassee Counties.
In the Spring, Tales with Tails, a reading program with/to a dog began at Briggs District Library in St. Johns. In the Fall, Tales with Tails expanded to DeWitt District Library.

2024
Along with SafeCenter, a domestic and sexual violence agency serving Clinton and Shiawassee Counties, we began our research in order to launch a pilot program, Pet Partners. This will be a temporary pet foster program to serve victims/survivors of domestic/sexual violence who need to seek shelter due to an abusive relationship.

2023
Our first therapy dog/human teams got their Paws on the Ground sharing dog joy, and we launched our local vendor store to help fund our mission!

2022
Community dog lovers formed our Leaders of the Pack (LOP) as a formal board of directors. Collectively our LOP has many years of experiences in nonprofit work, dog training, business, education, veterinary care and community service.
Throughout 2022 we established Giving Paws as a legal 501(c)3 organization and development and implementation of policies to ensure best practices of our agency including Leaders of the Pack, volunteers, and staff.

2021
A number of informal discussions with those who were interested in formalizing an avenue for dog handlers to share their trained dogs with the community.
