2021
A number of informal discussions with those who were interested in formalizing an avenue for dog handlers to share their trained dogs with the community.
2022
Community dog lovers formed our Leaders of the Pack (LOP) as a formal board of directors. Collectively our LOP has many years of experiences in nonprofit work, dog training, business, education, veterinary care and community service.
Throughout 2022 we established Giving Paws as a legal 501(c)3 organization and development and implementation of policies to ensure best practices of our agency including Leaders of the Pack, volunteers, and staff.
2023
Our first support dogs got their Paws on the Ground sharing dog joy, and we launched our local vendor store to help fund our mission!
2024
Along with SafeCenter, we began our research in order to launch a pilot program, Pet Partners. This will be a temporary pet foster program to serve their clients when humans need to seek shelter due to an abusive relationship.
2025
We launched our Pet Partners Fostering Program, a unique pet fostering program to serve victims/survivors of SafeCenter who the domestic and sexual violence organization serving Clinton and Shiawassee Counties.
In the Spring, Tales with Tails, a reading program with/to a dog began at Briggs District Library. In the Fall, Tales with Tails expanded to DeWitt District Library.
